Our second visit to Zumtobel Group, in Austria!
One of the perks of having international clients is that you get to visit them, every once in a while. So we did! Esper, Geert-Jan and Siemen travelled from Arnhem to meet up with our contacts in Dornbirn, to talk about all the in's and out's of their new project.
Our history
A few years ago, one of Zumtobel Group's (ZG) visited our Plone event. The person and the Four Digits representative exchanged information and enjoyed the event. Then, a few months past and we get an e-mail requesting our help with fixing some problems on a website called thorn-eco.com.
After solving the issues, ZG asked us to work with them on a project alongside them and Anton and Irene, two conceptual designers from Brooklyn (NYC). This is our blog regarding that project: https://www.fourdigits.nl/blog/new-zumtobel-site-remote-collaboration-all-over-the-globe/
Ever since our collaboration, some of ZG's developers have visited us during our Wagtail Space events.
Project number 2
This time, we will be working alongside ZG's developers on a new LLM (Large Language Model) application, a project about which we can't say too much yet. A full blog about the application will follow as soon as the project is done.
Kick-off in Dornbirn, Austria
We traveled to Dornbirn, Austria, for a full-day kickoff meeting. You might wonder, why go through the effort of traveling when it could all be done online? First and foremost, we wanted to personally connect with our valued partner. Face-to-face interaction strengthens relationships in ways that virtual meetings can't always match. Second, we firmly believe in the power of in-person kickoffs. There's something energizing about being in the same room—ideas flow more freely, trust builds faster, and the collaborative spirit is simply unmatched. In an era where remote communication is the norm, these moments of real-life connection remain invaluable.
Learning about lighting
Zumtobel gave us a tour of their Light Forum, an impressive space that showcases the many applications and possibilities of modern lighting. From corporate and supermarket lighting to museum installations, the forum offered a comprehensive view of how lighting can transform different environments. While visually striking, the experience was also crucial from a business perspective. At Four Digits, we believe in truly understanding our clients—not just the specific product we're working on, but their culture, industry, and overall business needs.
