War Child
The Challenge
War Child is committed to helping hundreds of thousands of children worldwide. The organization operates in multiple countries and raises funds in multiple languages. Each country has its own donation flow, its own payment provider, and its own audience. The challenge was to keep all of this manageable from a single editorial environment, without the complexity becoming apparent to visitors who want to donate.
The Solution
A multi-site platform managed from a single Wagtail CMS. Each site has its own language, its own donation flow, and its own payment provider. Mailchimp integration, YouTube links, Friends Campaigns, partner management, and more than 2,000 content pages: all manageable by the editorial team without technical intervention.
Fundraising isn’t just a button on a website. It’s about trust
For War Child, every donation starts with a visitor who is moved by a story. Psychosocial support, education, protection: that story must resonate, in every language and in every country. The platform is the bridge between the mission and the people who make it possible.
One platform. Multiple countries. Each country has its own donation flow.
If you work for an international NGO, you know the problem: multiple websites mean multiple management tasks, multiple updates, and multiple risks of inconsistency. War Child has solved this differently.
The editorial team manages all websites from a single Wagtail CMS. Country-specific content, campaigns, and donation pages are created centrally and deployed locally. Each country has its own payment provider and donation flow, fully integrated into the platform. Visitors are unaware of the complexity behind the scenes. Editors don’t have to manage that complexity.
Fundraising at the heart of the platform
Without donors, there are no programmes. Without programmes, no children are helped. For War Child, the digital platform is therefore not just a means of communication. It is a fundraising tool that must deliver results every day.
Friends Campaigns enable supporters to raise funds themselves on behalf of War Child. Mailchimp integration keeps donors engaged after their first donation. YouTube links showcase the organization’s work just when someone is having second thoughts. Donations and payments are immediately visible in the CMS. And more than 2,000 pages of content are managed by an editorial team that doesn’t need a developer to do its job. This keeps the focus where it belongs: on the children.
Multiple websites in a single CMS
War Child operates in multiple countries, each with its own website, language, and audience. The editorial team manages all sites simultaneously from a single Wagtail CMS. Country-specific content, campaigns, and donation pages are created centrally and deployed locally. No duplication of effort, no inconsistencies, and no technical dependencies with every update.
Multiple payment providers
Fundraising only works if the barrier to donating is as low as possible. Every country has its own trusted payment method. The platform integrates multiple payment providers, each fully tailored to the market and target audience. Donors pay using the method they feel most comfortable with. The organisation can view everything in a single overview.
2,000+ pages, managed
A large NGO has a lot to share: stories from the field, news, campaigns, programme information and partner pages. War Child’s editorial team manages a large volume of content without any involvement from Four Digits. Wagtail CMS gives the organisation the freedom to respond quickly to current events, because in a war zone, the news doesn’t wait.
